Krista holds with a PhD in Genetics from the Texas A&M University and an undergraduate background in Animal Science and Chemistry. Additionally, she was involved in a postdoctoral research fellowship in Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences. She has vast experience teaching students in both professional and academic settings. She currently tutors collegiate Biology, Genetics, and various science subjects from Kindergarten through High School. She is published in many scientific journals and has been awarded many awards for excellence in scientific achievements.
Rich holds a B.S. and M.S. in mathematics from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Texas, Austin. He has 25 years experience as a software engineer including over 10 years at IBM, and now teaches math at Austin Community College. His hobbies are math, science, engineering, and programming, subjects which he also tutors. He also enjoys hiking in rain forests and deserts.
Donald holds a B.S. in Mathematics (1992) from University of Houston and an M.S. in Statistics (1998) from Texas A&M University. He taught calculus labs during his last year as an undergraduate, and (undergraduate) statistics classes for several years as a graduate student. Since 2001, he has been tutoring with House of Tutors. He currently tutors most high school and college-level mathematics, from Algebra 2 up through calculus and statistics; He can also tutor various other college level mathematics and some graduate level statistics by request. Donald’s hobbies include online wiki editing, computer programming, and book collecting. His interests center mostly around academic subjects — especially science of all kinds, computers and technology, history, philosophy, religion, and languages.
Richard holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Texas. Richard tutors Math, Physics, Statics and Logic. His hobbies include computer gaming, board gaming and manga, and favorite tv shows right now are Dr. Who, Sherlock and Glee.
Sina is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and has lived in Austin since 2016. He has been a tutor for five years and with House of Tutors for one year. Subjects tutored include programming, physics, and math up until multivariable Calculus. Sina holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering K. N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, Iran. In his spare time he plays the guitar, plays volleyball, and runs.
Dr. Neil holds a BS in physics from Queens College, an MS in physics from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Arizona. He worked as an electrical engineer his entire working life and became the Chief Technology Officer of a start-up company engaged in developing micro-replicated optical films. Dr. Neil L. holds 30 patents in a variety of subjects and has published more than 30 papers covering a wide range of topics. He prefers tutoring college physics 1, covering engineering and non-calculus, HS algebra 1 and 2, HS trigonometry, and HS geometry. He is also an expert in playing Spider Solitaire and enjoys writing science fiction short stories.
Kelsey is a Ph.D. student studying developmental psychology at the University of Texas in Austin and holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of San Francisco. Before coming to UT, she was did research for Yale University in the psychology department. Kelsey is available to tutor any level of psychology classes for college and high school students. In addition, she enjoys working younger children and has over a decade of experience helping struggling readers. In her spare time, she loves baking, hiking, and reading novels.
Hifza is currently pursuing a bachelor’s of science and arts in Biology at The University of Texas at Austin. She specializes in general chemistry. She has previously served as a learning assistant in Principles of Chemistry I and Principles of Chemistry II courses at UT Austin. She loves to explain difficult topics through multiple perspectives for students’ optimal understanding.
Dr. Engin has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Master’s of Science in both Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Standford, a M.A.. in Economics from New School for Social Research as well as being a doctoral candidate in Political Economy, then a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law.
Grant is finishing the last semester of his BBA Honors and Finance degree from the University of Texas at Austin. This degree, as well as internships with a private equity firm and a data solutions firm, allows him to help students with a variety of business classes. His favorite subjects in high school were math, science, and Spanish, all of which he is able to tutor in. If he’s not tutoring, he’s probably either playing golf, hanging out with friends, or watching a movie.
Elizabeth Doss loves cultural expression such as language, theatre, performance and dance. She holds a BA in Spanish and an MFA in Playwriting both from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a native Austinite but also has lived in Mexico, Spain and India. In addition to tutoring Spanish and English, she teaches yoga, Pilates and creative writing and also is the Co-artistic director of the theatre company, Paper Chairs.
Evelyn holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Having a good deal of tutoring experience under her belt, Evelyn likes tutoring because it is a very engaging and rewarding process. Evelyn especially enjoys tutoring students in Math, from Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry to Calculus and Physics, as well as Test Prep for the math section of the GRE and the SAT.
Karen is an experienced writer and editor with an Undergraduate Degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Political Sciences and Public Administration and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. She tutors all levels of Spanish and has a passion for helping students improve their language skills.
Karen was born in Mexico and came to the United States of America 22 years ago. She loves living in Austin Texas with her husband and three sons. Karen has been at House of Tutors for two years and she
tutors Spanish at all levels including spelling, grammar, composition, pronunciation, literature, poetry etc. She loves the richness of her native language and to hear learners speaking beautiful and correct Spanish. She has a Master Degree in Public Administration from the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey, Escuela de Graduados Alta Administracion, in Mexico City, and a degree in Political Sciences from UIA Universidad Ibero Americana in Mexico City. She specializes in Literature, Philosophy, as well as Mexican and worldwide economic and political history. For 15 years, Karen held jobs as a contributor and editor for two magazines in Mexico City, worked in Mexican Public Administration, and helped run a family business. In her free time, Karen enjoys studying, reading, writing, cooking, and doing yoga.
Nick is from Lubbock, Texas and moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. He is currently a sophomore working towards a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. In his free time, Nick loves watching movies, sports, and being outdoors.

Brandon is a junior working on his Biology degree in the Health Science Scholars program at UT. For the past two years, he has enjoyed being a teaching assistant in the College of Natural Science and Undergraduate Studies. He also has experience tutoring high school students in west Austin. Brandon spends his summers as a camp counselor at Camp Reynal and doing research at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Alexis is a new HOFT instructor. Prior to joining us at HOFT, she taught English in universities in Saudi Arabia. She also served in the United States Air Force.
